R.E.Y. Engineers, Inc. has expanded its mobile mapping capabilities with the acquisition of the RIEGL VMY-2 Mobile Mapping System, marking 15 years of innovation and partnership with RIEGL.
This milestone reflects R.E.Y.’s continued leadership in geospatial technology and its commitment to delivering high-precision solutions to clients across California and beyond. In 2010, R.E.Y. made a bold move as a small business by investing in the RIEGL VMX system, becoming an early adopter of mobile laser scanning. That decision laid the foundation for a decade and a half of growth, precision, and client success.
“Since stepping into the mobile laser scanning market 15 years ago,” said Joe Feyder, PLS, Principal Manager, Remote Sensing Division at R.E.Y. “Our original RIEGL VMX system has performed beautifully. With the purchase of the new VMY scanner, we hope to continue to be at the forefront of technology and continue to provide the highest of quality and accuracy products for our clients.”
The RIEGL VMY-2 is not a replacement but a strategic enhancement. Its compact, lightweight design allows for faster deployment and greater flexibility, making it the perfect complement to R.E.Y.’s trusted VMX system. Additionally, R.E.Y. has added two 12-megapixel panoramic cameras and a Ladybug6 72-megapixel spherical camera to the system.
“I have been with R.E.Y. for 10 years,” said Daniel Clark, Senior LiDAR Technician at R.E.Y. “Over that time, I’ve seen the amazing data the VMX system provides. Now, with the VMY and its enhanced imagery capabilities, we’ll be able to collect more data, faster, and deliver even greater value to our clients. Pairing the VMY-2 with the Ladybug6 camera system and rear pavement cameras will allow us to provide the most accurate data possible.”
